Introduction:

The Creation of Elves

· The elves are a primordial race and have existed long before the subsistence of other beings (humans, etc). They are widely believed to have been created by Lord Corellon Larethian.

Religion: Corellon Larethian is regarded as the protector and preserver of life. There is belief among certain groups of elves that Corellon is female rather than male or both female and male or as neither gender. Elves do not usually have a clear separation line between genders in their communities as they are a pragmatic race, thus the actual gender of their ‘God’—Corellon is not of much importance.

The elven race are believed by some to have sprung from the drops of Corellon’s blood that were shed in battle with Gruumsh, the god of the evil orcs, but there is dispute with others that claim it was against Lolth, a demonic, spider-like goddess. There are also those few who believe the deliberate creation of the elves from Corellon’s blood to fight the evil spawned by their eternal enemies, the orcs and the dark ones such as Lolth and Her ilk – the Elven Drow race. The elven race are believed by some to have sprung from the drops of Corellon’s blood that were shed in battle with Gruumsh, the god of the evil orcs, but there is dispute with others that claim it was against Lolth, a demonic, spider-like goddess.

Corellon Larethian is most often pictured as a male warrior with a long bow or long sword adorned in cerulean diaphanous garment over his elven mithral chainmail.

Over the centuries of their existence, the elven bloodlines have become mixed with other races. The origins of this incident is lost in antiquity however it is said that every time such a union takes place, the longevity of the elven races decreases. Nonetheless, such unions are usually rejoiced as it produces offspring with greater regularity. And this is a cause of celebration as the birth rates of elves are usually quite low.

Though the complete unification of human and the elf race is not expected to happen for another few centuries, it is their hope that humans and other races attempt their best to live harmoniously with nature. They are however, ever ready to step up and take on the duty of fighting against any evil disrupting the works of nature as they believe it to be the purpose of their being.
