The Dark Elves (Drow)

Historical Characteristics of the Drow Elves

At the beginning of elven history, the Ssri-tel-quessir (Drow) race were the most advantageous of the elven breed. They made up the strongest of nations and held much power over the rest of the elven clan. In spite of their success and influence, their innate characteristics of jealousy and their inclination to cruelty had led them to wage wars against other races to obtain total domination.

However, their many attempts were all defeated. This was when they pledged allegiance to Lolth the Spider Queen and was granted by the dark Lord extraordinary magical powers in return for their loyalty. This marked the beginning of the continuous cataclysm over other elven dominions compelled by the Ssri-tel-quessir.

As a result of their disloyalty to Corellon, the Ssri-tel-quessir were cursed and banished into the Underdark where they became known as “Dhaeraow” (Drow) which in elven language means “traitor”.

Subsequent to their out casting, the drow began existing more barbarously, living as drifters, scavengers and savages. Through the order of the dark queen, the Ssri-tel-quessir organized themselves into colonies and in time, they had set up numerous brilliantly terrifying communities with powerful armies.

The Drow race has since had their influence spread wide over to the outside plane taking over neglected elven dwellings and pursuing their age old ambition of total domination.

Outlook

The Drow populations in general are vicious, disparaging, and perfidious beings. They are hateful and envious and long for superiority over other races. They are spiteful and deceitful even when dealing with their own kind. They comprehend not the benefits of trusting bonds and are therefore incapable of love.
